"Georg Jensen represents quality craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic design, from hollowware to watches, jewellery and home products."
A few weeks ago, Emily invited me to come along with her to the showing of the the new range at Georg Jensen before other media and the public. Many pieces were inspired or redesigned reproductions of archival pieces from the 1800s. It really shows how the pieces have stayed as classics through time.
The Fusion line pieces bought perhaps 10 or 20 years ago still fit together with new ones purchased. Above is a picture of an example of the Fusion pieces that make up the ring band.
I am also particularly fascinated with the Alliance range which are pieces that easily can be put on without any links or connections. For example the Alliance earrings are designed to just sit with there are no pins or clips to hold on.
This also brings me to the beautiful Vivianna Bangle Watch which wraps on the wrist perfectly yet still open. The concept behind the design was that of savoring every present and the beauty of each moment. "The face of the watch is a mirror, which reflects the present moment and returns the wearer’s focus to “now.” There are no numbers and a simple second hand. The bracelet is open-ended to show we do not need to feel bound by time."
Fun fact, you can see below there are Grape designs and these were a particular favourite of Georg Jensen's designs, as he was fascinated by the fruit.

The Living range including the plates serving canapes below, have a clean mirrored polish design, which I particularly like myself. It looks sophisticated and expensive to me.
Georg Jensen pieces are always superior in craftsmanship, with designs that have modern edge yet functionalable. A little catch phrase they use is, that I completely agree is that it's "Contemporary then, contemporary now."
